CAMP COUNSELOR, CAMP SIOUX

Join the FUN ? apply to work at a diabetes camp and experience the rewards. Spend a week of your summer reliving the joys of childhood fun and becoming inspired by kids living with diabetes.

The American Diabetes Association camp program for boys and girls ages 8 to 15. Camp is located at Park River Bible Camp in Park River, North Dakota. ADA Camp Sioux offers a wide range of activities, including swimming, sports, boating, hiking, arts and crafts, campfire activities and much more!

Camp has two one-week sessions:

Session 1: June 10-15th, 2012
Session 2: June 17-22nd, 2012

Purpose
- To ensure the health and safety of campers, always working within the policies of the American Diabetes Association and the American Camping Association.
- To ensure that an enjoyable experience is provided for campers.

DESCRIPTION
Responsible to: Camp Director
Working with: Camp Staff Leadership Team

- Participate in pre-camp training.
- Comply with staff personnel policies.
- Know each camper assigned to your cabin and help him/her to get the most from the camp experience.
- Participate actively in the camp program and schedule.
- Work cooperatively with other staff members.
- Work with medical staff to ensure the health and appropriate diabetes management of campers.
- Offer emotional support and guidance to campers.
- Relay any medical concerns, including accidents and low blood sugars IMMEDIATELY to medical staff.
- Ensure assigned campers arrive on time at scheduled activities and facilitate their active participation.
- Participate in staff meetings.
- Report all incidents and accidents immediately to the Camp Director, and cooperate in the completion of required follow-up

REQUIREMENTS
- Must be 18 years old.
- Demonstrated ability to work with children.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills in a variety of camp settings.
