Position Summary:

The Assistant Director, in collaboration with the director, shall:

1. Communicate with parents about the individual needs of their children, including any special concerns the parents may have;

2. Plan daily and weekly schedules of activities and make those plans available to parents; and

3. Ensure that program policies are adhered to in the classes and groups assigned to the assistant director.

4. Assist the Director with insuring maintenance of required records for children, staff and Trini-Tots Day Care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist with program planning, supervision and activity;

2. Assist with maintenance of required enrollment, attendance, health, financial, and related records.

3. Assist with the screening, scheduling, supervision, and conduct of staff members;

4. Provide care as needed for children enrolled in Trini-Tots Day Care.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

Licenses and Certifications Required:

o Meet current certification requirements in basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation that meets the requirement of the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or other cardiopulmonary resuscitation training programs approved by the Department of Human Services;

b) Be certified or trained in a Department of Human Services approved program to provide first aid;

Educational Requirements:

o shall meet at least one of the following qualification:

- An associate degree in the field of early childhood development;

- Current certification as a child development associate;

- Certification from a Montessori teacher training program;

- A high school diploma or high school equivalency with at least one year of experience in a child care or similar setting.

Experience Requirements:

o Day Care Center experience preferred

Special Skills or Training Requirements:

o Shall certify attendance at a minimum of thirteen hours of county-approved training related to child care annually.

o Must be an adult of good physical, cognitive, social, and emotional health, and shall use mature judgment when making decisions impacting the quality of child care.

o Shall possess knowledge and experience in building and maintaining interpersonal relationships.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

o Lifting and changing infants and toddlers. Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
