Position Description: To provide repair, analysis, and consultation for Facilities, Dining Services, Housing, an the Auxiliary areas of the University. Some duties include: Diagnose, maintain, and repair cafeteria and laundry equipment using wiring diagrams and schematics. Plumbing duties include: Install water and waste lines for cafeteria and laundry equipment; repair steam valves, solenoid valves, and traps for laundry equipment; repair water valves, vacuum breakers, faucets, sinks, traps in cafeterias; open plugged waste lines on cafeteria equipment. Electrical repair duties include: Install circuit breakers, indicator lights, and thermostats on cafe equipment; repair electrical service for laundry equipment; repair or replace electrical relays and disconnects for equipment; assist installation of electrical for new cafeteria equipment. Gas repair duties include: Maintain/Repair gas burners on commercial ovens and fryers; maintain ignitors, thermocouples, on gas heating systems for ovens; repair gas components in commercial cafeteria grills, deep fryers, charbroilers; repair gas components in commercial laundry products, such as clothes dryers. Miscellaneous maintenance and repair includes: Vending machines, roll up doors, furniture, door closures or openers, doors, windows, espresso machines, time clocks, battery backup emergency lighting, ceiling tile; maintain inventory on cafeteria and laundry equipment; hang bulletin boards, signs, pictures; repair autoclave in Biomedical Research Department.
Required Qualifications: ? High school diploma or GED & 2 years experience in repair of cafeteria equipment & commercial laundry equipment
? Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, tools, and materials used in the general maintenance & repair of cafeteria equipment & commercial laundry equipment
? Knowledge and use of voltmeters, multi-meters, hand power tools, snakes, & the ability to read & understand schematics & service manuals
? Proficient computer skills
? Ability to interact, communicate, and deal with students/faculty/staff/coworkers
? Able to work in confined spaces, hot/damp areas nerar steam pipes, and withstand long hours of standing/walking/kneeling/bending/twisting/heavy lifting
? Able to work in buildings containing asbestos materials
? Valid Drivers License
? Must be available for call-backs 24/7
? Subject to Criminal History Background Check
Preferred Qualifications: ? Experience with plumbing, carpentry, electrical repair, and pump repair
