Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Operate in assigned area of responsibility according to accepted housekeeping duties, safety policies and operational efficiency. Plant Operator position will assist in the transfer of product to and from the cavern; i.e. loading of trucks and loading/unloading of railcars.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adhere to all plant safety policies and practices
Monitor those entering process area to perform work to ensure adherence to all plant safety policies and practices
Manage necessary operating changes for safe and efficient plant operations
Adhere to written operating procedures for shutdown and startup of equipment
Adhere to lockout/tagout procedures in preparing equipment for maintenance work
Safe handling/loading/unloading of process chemicals used in the plant
Train new operators assigned to work area
Perform daily product/chemical tests as required for assigned operating area
Record daily reports on inventories, sales and receipts
Relay safety problems and operating concerns to the supervisor
Actively participate in various elements of process safety management, tailgate safety meetings and safety council meetings
Qualifications
REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
Physically able to climb stairs, operate valves and pumps and perform light maintenance work
Knowledge of basic safety requirements and practices
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in team environment with positive attitude
Willingness to accept responsibility and additional duties
Willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
High school diploma or GED
