Description
Main purpose of the role is to contribute, initiate and co‐ordinate design and project activities, as part of a global team, with one of the world’s leading high voltage service companies. The candidate will be responsible for system detail mechanical design and design for manufacture to support the next generation instruments for condition monitoring and test in the high voltage and power industries.

• Responsible to the Director of Engineering for the supply of mechanical/production engineering design and draughting services to the Innovation Centre for Online Systems (ICOS).
• To ensure that designs and product data produced meet technical, manufacturing and safety requirements and are presented, controlled and configured in accordance with company standards.
• Produce design layouts and detailed/manufacturing drawing packages to meet the technical requirements of ICOS
• Produce detailed design specifications for system sub-assemblies
• Work with electronics engineers to define interfaces between different assemblies
• Document designs according to design for manufacture best practice
• Produce with minimum supervision conceptual design layouts plus detail / manufacturing drawings meeting the latest national and international standards
• Produce service documentation for ICOS products

Education & Qualifications
HND or Degree in an Engineering discipline enhanced with appropriate work experience. Experience of design for manufacture projects.

High level of technical skill and broad technical knowledge, demonstrating the capability to work across a diversity of technical areas.
Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work as part of a small multi-skilled, multi-faceted team across geographically diverse locations
A high degree of IT literacy and numeracy.
Experience of 2D CAD techniques, preferably AutoCAD
Ability to produce concise technical documentation
Experience of working in accordance with a Quality System, e.g. ISO9001 Knowledge of 3D CAD techniques, e.g. SolidWorks
Experience in the production of service documentation.
Experience of control panel design.
Experience of wiring harness and cable sub-assembly design.
Experience of system design in preparation for EMC testing
Knowledge of the design and manufacture of high voltage test equipment.
Knowledge and experience of mechanical or electrical condition monitoring systems
Knowledge and experience of working in the power transmission/generation industry.
